The Battle of Höchstädt, also known as the Battle of Blenheim, took place on August 13, 1704, and was a decisive battle of the War of the Spanish Succession. An allied army under the Duke of Marlborough and Prince Eugene of Savoy defeated a Franco-Bavarian army. This battle marked a turning point in the war and contributed to Great Britain's rise to global power.

Markt Castle: The remains of Markt Castle rise above the Markt district, on a ridge that slopes down on three sides. The castle was first documented in the 14th century, but the oldest surviving parts of the building date back to 1525, when the Fugger family had it rebuilt as a palace.
