A spring that flows all year round with strong water pressure is channeled here to a well with around 10 filling pipes. According to locals, the owner of the land on which the spring is located has given it to the municipality on the condition that it is always available to the public free of charge. Many people come with bottles and canisters to get their drinking water here. The little detour from the Via Rhona is definitely worth it.

8 million years ago, the Ardèche river flowed in a valley of which Rochemaure was the confluence with the Rhône. Volcanic activity blocked this valley to give rise to the Coiron and the dyke where the Rochemaure castle is located. All the hills around Rochemaure are basaltic.
