Behind Cahors and Figeac, Gourdon is the third largest city in the Lot department. Built on a rocky outcrop, it enjoys very beautiful views. It is just as pleasant to stroll through its streets to admire its beautiful Renaissance houses. Every year, generally during the first weekend of August, the Gourdonnades take place. An important medieval festival where demonstrations of archery and crossbow shooting, sword fights, and medieval songs take place.

Gourdon is a small medieval town in the Lot department which is located at the top of a promontory. From up there, splendid views of hilly and green landscapes await you. Half-timbered houses, old gates, narrow streets, magnificent Saint-Pierre church, 17th century town hall. This old city center is magnified during the medieval festivals that take place every summer in this perfect setting. The castle was probably destroyed during the French Revolution, and on what was its location, you now find an esplanade that offers another view of the valley.
