Starting from Morez, the climb is steep in parts but easier than the slog from Nyon. The scenery? Stunning all the way, especially crossing from France into Switzerland at La Cure. In March, the top (1232m) was deep in snow and freezing, so be prepared. Then it’s all downhill.. literally, through Saint-Cergue and into a twisty, brake-testing descent to Nyon, where it was warm enough for a T-shirt. One ride, two countries, skipping through seasons.

The route up from Biere on the Swiss side is a solid steady climb with a few 12% and 13% sections. Traffic is quite light and the road is excellent. The trees give some nice protection from the sun and wind. Crossing the col northwards takes you down to the Vallé de Joux on a pretty steep decent with great corners and some short straights. My brakes made sounds I have never heard before! I did this and Col de Mollendrux together for a great 80k / 1,500 m ride. Recommended.

Near the Ruty hut, in the bend formed by the track, a wide panorama opens up onto the peaks of the Alps which can easily be seen when the weather is clear.

The village of Saint-George is nestled in a typical Jura environment. Its name refers to the prince of Cappadocia who, according to legend, freed a city or a princess by defeating a dragon. The myth explains the presence of the creature on the village's coat of arms.

Beautiful small town in the Vaudois Jura, with many old buildings. The villages are the starting point for outdoor activities, in summer and winter. The setting is spectacular, and you can enjoy the superb views of Lake Geneva and the Alps.

Fantastic cycle path through the vineyards above Lake Geneva. It's always worth stopping here and enjoying the panorama.

L'Isle is the end point of a meter-gauge railway that begins in Morges on Lake Geneva. It is a private railway owned by the Compagnie du Transports de la Région Morges–Bière–Cossonay (MBC). The line begins at the SBB train station in the town of Morges on the shores of Lake Geneva. The line leads via the Apples branch station to Bière, a small town on the Jura foot plateau at around 700 m above sea level. The branch line to L'Isle branches off at the Apples wedge station.
