The Col de Guéry, located in the heart of the Auvergne region, offers a picturesque mountain pass experience amidst the volcanic landscapes of the Massif Central. At an altitude of approximately 1,267 metres, the pass offers stunning views of Lake Guéry below, the highest lake in Auvergne. The region is known for its tranquil beauty, with rolling meadows, dramatic volcanic peaks and forests that change colour with the seasons. Nearby Roche Sanadoire and Roche Tuilière add to the spectacular scenery, making it a perfect stop on your hike.

The Sanadoire rock marks the limit between the Dores mountains and the Banne d'Ordanche massif. This rock is the remains of an old volcano eroded by a glacier. The rock emerges as if by magic in the Cirque du Chausse located at the foot of the Col du Guéry. The glacier that occupied the circus has indeed completely eroded the volcano leaving only two bases of lava: the chimney also called Tuilière and the cone called Sanadoire.

Magnificent panorama of the Massif du Sancy, 360° view allowing you to also see the Puy de Dôme, moving towards the terminal of the 4 Lords and the Banne d'Ordancche possibility of seeing the Massif du Cantal but for that it will be necessary to be early in the morning and to favor cool days to avoid the mists which could blur the horizon.
