Originally, there was a Romanesque chapel in the hamlet of Roselend. It was dedicated to Saint Mary Magdalene. A 13th-century document mentions a chapel that could be this one. More precise sources indicate that the bell was cast in 1608 or that donations were made in 1710, 1757, and 1760. In 1794, it hosted four émigré priests from the valley for their first mass after their return from exile, including the future Archbishop of Chambéry, Antoine Martinet. Submerged when the dam was filled on May 6, 1960, a chapel was rebuilt two years later near the road overlooking the lake, in a more modern style.

Little-known and little-frequented pass, the climb is done alone and without a sound in the forest. The view is magnificent and on arrival, the refuge allows you to have a small drink (⚠️payment by species only). The road is in poor condition and it can be disturbing on the way down. If you have a Gravel and courage, the thirst route (Gravel/mountain bike path) allows you to reach the Col des Aravis and is magnificent. Mostly a cycle highway which is good, but beware a lovely hot day in French holidays - it’s pretty busy. There are, however, points along the route where you could just park your bike and pop in for a swim (best on the quieter side of the lake) and plenty of opportunity. Lovely easy ride. Probably not for the speed merchant (too many doodlers get in the way).
