Salers is a municipality in the Cantal department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The town is a completely preserved small town from the Renaissance period, with private and public buildings, city walls, defensive towers and a church. It was included in the association of the most beautiful villages in France. Despite its small population of around 300 inhabitants, the town is a historical, cultural and agricultural center in the sparsely populated mountain region of the Monts du Cantal. At an altitude of 1,588 meters, the Pas de Peyrol is located between the Puy Mary and the Puy de la Tourte. It is known to be the highest road pass in the Massif Central and is worth it, because the last few kilometers have high percentages.
