During World War II, Mont Canisy was a strategically important point for the German Wehrmacht. The site was heavily fortified as part of the Atlantic Wall and served as a coastal battery to protect the Normandy beaches from an Allied invasion. Today, numerous bunkers, gun emplacements, and underground passages remain. Some areas can be visited.

Mont Canisy is a prominent hill on the Côte Fleurie in Normandy, about 4 km southwest of Deauville, France. At approximately 110 meters high, the hill offers impressive panoramic views of the sea and the surrounding countryside.

Mont Canisy, like Pointe du Hoc, is an emblematic place of the Second World War in Normandy. Due to its strategic position, it has always been a stronghold over the centuries. In turn seigniorial stronghold in 1793, anti-submarine defense post in 1917, coastal battery between 1935 and 1940, its position facing the port of Le Havre and the Bay of Seine earned it, during the last world conflict, be transformed into a veritable concrete fortress. Today it is a magical place to observe the Atlantic Ocean and the Normandy coast.

This protected natural park is unique on the Côte Fleurie. So close to the sea, it is actually a freshwater marsh fed by the surrounding streams. You can run around the pond in the park, which makes for a nice run.

A hill shaped by history and war. The artillery bunkers and their 250 meters of concrete galleries are a prominent feature of this hill, but I think what made it so strategic during World War II will leave you speechless when you see it - the view.
