Notre-Dame de Rouen is one of the largest and most sumptuous Gothic churches in France; its Tour lanterne boasts the record of having the highest spire (flèche) in the country and the third in Europe 96 meters above the ground, which made it the tallest building in the world between 1876 and 1880. Since 1862 it has been recognized as a historical monument of France. Martainville Castle, built at the end of the 15th century by a rich Rouen merchant, is today a museum of Norman arts and traditions. You can discover the castle and its collections, as well as the park and the Renaissance-style garden. The castle is open every day except Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (or 5:00 p.m. in winter), and the entrance fee is 5 euros.
