In my opinion, this is a terrible road for a road bike. I don't enjoy cycling back, but the "view" from my perspective isn't worth the ride, as most of it is trees and you only get a brief glimpse of the lake or the valley below, not to mention the Salève. The road is already very bad a few kilometers past Thoiry and only gets worse. I continued past the viewpoint, hoping to eventually reach a decent paved section. However, that didn't happen until the descent to Crozet. Of course, this isn't a problem on a gravel bike or mountain bike. I was glad I didn't get a flat tire.

The Montoisey culminates at 1,669 meters above sea level and overlooks the beautiful Valserine valley to the northwest as well as the entire Lake Geneva basin. And inevitably who says Léman, says Mont-Blanc massif in the background. It is located in the alignment of the Crêt de la Neige and the Grand Crêt, taking the panoramic ridge path that connects the three peaks.

This plateau takes you into a quiet wildlife zone. This means that over the period from December 15 to June 30, all human activities are strictly prohibited, including hiking. These provisions reduce the stress on wild animals. However, some marked trails allow you to cross these areas. They are designed to avoid disturbing the most sensitive species. On this beautiful balcony path you can admire the Alps, the Mont-Blanc massif and the entire Lake Geneva valley. A spectacle as far as the eye can see and a super pleasant and dynamic trail.

The Crêt de la Neige offers the opportunity to contemplate the Jura massif from the highest point in the surrounding area. You will observe Lake Geneva and the Alps, during a fairly accessible and easy hike. On a clear day, you can see Mont Blanc!

Actually more of a hotspot for hikers to climb to the Reculet or Cret de la Neige, but the Tiocan can also be easily reached from Thoiry by road bike. You can also use the forest roads coming from Gex or Farges; for this, however, wider tires are preferable.

This cabin is open for whom wants to camp in the night. In October(when I went there) it was open for the public. Inside is tidy and pretty large. It has a fireplace and an external bbq. This cabin is placed between Le Reculet, Le Grand Crêt and La Crêt de la Neige, and you can enjoy the magic view from the Jura to Switzerland. Ps. Before thinking about sleeping there, I suggest you to call the proper institutions for making sure that the cabin is not locked.

Starting point for the ascent to Reculet and/or Crêt de la Neige for motorized vehicles. The non-motorized and the courageous obviously leave from the village of Thoiry. In summer, the establishment sells drinks and pastries (when it is open).

This is a chalet in the jura, with bbq and great views over the Geneva lake. You can see the jet d'eau from here. The croix du reculet is 1 hour away. There is a little annex with a rudimentary WC.
