Even though the public no longer has direct access to the experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), we found the visit to CERN extremely interesting. During the tour we booked, we were captivated by the lively explanations of a British scientist who was involved in the discovery of the Higgs boson and therefore had authentic information to offer. In addition to the well-designed museum, we even got a glimpse into the control room of the Atlas experiment. Conclusion: a very interesting excursion for those interested in science!

A renowned institution that conducts experiments on nuclear particles. The colliders are located in France and Switzerland and physicists from many countries work here. The museum is free to visit.

At this place, you can enjoy a panorama of the vineyards (green in summer, giving freshness and brightness to the landscape) and Mont Salève on the French side. The views are especially spectacular during the warmer seasons.

One of the last true marshy areas in the canton of Geneva. On April 18, 1951, these lands were purchased by the Swiss League for the Protection of Nature (today Pro Natura). This area is slowly being invaded by forest and therefore in danger. 13 species out of the 136 recorded in Mategnin les Crêts appear on the red list of threatened species. Concerning fauna, there are 48 species of birds and multiple species of insects and amphibians.

We can see the summit of Mont Blanc above the Salève and the Jet d'Eau.

They offer a free guided tour (1:30h with max 24 people ) with professors or graduate students and they are more than happy to answer any questions. You have to register for the tour 1h in advance. Reservations are not possible however, waiting is worth it.
