Very nice view of the Haut Jura plateau and the Crêt de Chalam

Le Saut du Chien, located in the Jura department, is a fascinating natural waterfall. It is surrounded by lush vegetation and is visible from the road.

Demanding hike but beautiful views. To be done in dry weather because the descent from the belvedere "above the sandstone" is very slippery, muddy and steep when the path is wet, so frankly a headache!

From this vantage point, the view extends to the distant horizon. The geology is visible amid the greenery.

The Belvédère du Replan is a prime place to visualize the surrounding terrain. From here you overlook the Cirque des Foules. It also opens a large window on Saint-Claude and on the deep valleys carved out by the various rivers.

The small village of Septmoncel is a precious stopover in the surroundings. You can find a bakery, a small supermarket, a drinking water point. Many amenities therefore to leave the water bottles and the backpack full. You can take the opportunity to admire the Comtois bell tower of its church. Last little tip, get a piece of Septmoncel, the local name for a cheese better known as bleu de Gex. Yum !
