The clearing in the forest is the site of a small sacred monument: a statue of the Virgin Mary, known as the "Vierge du Mont Joly." The stone statue, which is not painted, stands on a brick base. The inscription reads "O! Marie, we have established our guardian." The figure is a work by Jean Molette (1819-1889) from 1884.

La Roche d’Ajoux is the second summit of the Beaujolais mountains, behind Mont Saint-Rigaud. It peaks at 970 meters above sea level. The panorama at the summit extends over the Azergues valley, the Forez and Madeleine mountains, the Charolais and Mont Rigaud.

The Poule-Les Echarmeaux body of water near the “Zone Humide des Monneries”. It is maintained by the local fishing company. The meadows surrounding it are open to the public and equipped with picnic tables.

Pass to do in the sequence between the Ecorbans and the Echarmeaux. No big drop offs, fairly gritty road, wide and few viewpoints. Well shaded and fairly uncrowded road. It doesn't look like it's a pass and yet!
