With an area of 2,700 hectares, the forest area is mainly managed by the National Forestry Office (2,000 hectares of state forest). It also includes private and other municipal parts. It houses a leisure center and an outdoor center managed by the Syndicat mixte pour l'aménagement de la forêt de Bouconne. The Bouconne forest is crossed by many paths that can be traveled on foot or by mountain bike. Its massif has a height that varies from 180 (northeast) to 290 meters (southwest). Its heavy and poorly drained soil consists of rolled pebbles, gravel and clay.
