Nontron is an interesting place. It seems to have been inhabited since the Bronze Age and the Romans also settled here. It is definitely worth a visit.

According to legend, this rock was born from a shepherdess, her dog and her sheep who were transformed into stone to save them from an attack by wolves. This block is in reality a granite chaos, and not a dolmen as some have sometimes believed.
