The slope of Mont Piron is very steep (14% maximum gradient)

The toughest climb in Loire-Atlantique, in my opinion. Quite long (> 500 m) with an average gradient of 12% and sections of over 18% according to my Garmin. The winding route reinforces the "mountain" feel.

Everything is just right here - cycling on an asphalted cycle path directly along the Loire - simply fantastic.

Looking east from your bike towards Saint-Florent-le-Vieil, you will be greeted by a breathtaking panorama of this historic village perched on a hill overlooking the Loire. The terracotta roofs and elegant abbey church of Saint-Florent stand out against the backdrop of the Loire.

For a long time, our ancestors have observed nature and learned to harness the often unbridled power of the elements, including flowing water. What makes this place special is the unusual technology used: it was not a "normal" water mill that was built, but a very unusual construction in which the wheels were hung in the arches.
