A beautiful view of the Loue River from the bridge. The Loue crosses the Jura and the Doubs, another French region. The Loue valley was frequented by prehistoric men. After a prosperous economic history in the Middle Ages, and gone, the source and the valley of the Loue are to this day high places of ecotourism of tourism in the Doubs and tourism in the department of Jura, with one of the rivers renowned among the most picturesque, clean, green, and translucent in many places in the region.

Dole, a town in eastern France, was chosen as the starting point for stage 8 of the 2017 Tour de France. The peloton embarked on a challenging course from Dole to Station des Rousses. Lilian Calmejane was the winner of the stage.

The La Ferté cheese and fruit dairy is a cooperative which transforms around 3,300,000 liters of cow's milk per year into cheese. She sells Comté and Morbier locally. The word fruitiere comes from “fruit”: it is the place where farmers put the fruit of their work together, where they make their goods grow.

The spring that feeds the large fountain has been known since the 13th century. This valuable water outlet within the city walls contributed to the city's resistance during the sieges of 1479 and 1636. This spring belonged to the city, which had to maintain it and preserve its water quality. Contrary to what legend has it, it was never reserved for use by lepers. Today's wash house dates from the 19th century. As the vault collapsed in several places, it was closed in 1953 with a reinforced concrete slab. In 1986 the fountain was restored.
