In the Bertranges forest massif, the Niffond lake is a remarkable site. During the summer, its refreshing banks seduce locals and tourists alike. Around its banks, the forest shelters a plural fauna where the walkers rub shoulders with deer or squirrels.

The Porte du Croux had both a defensive and a commercial role, as it collected taxes on products entering the city of Nevers. Its presence was attested as early as 1194, but it was rebuilt between 1394 and 1398 in its present form. A front door was added, a few meters away, in 1422.
