The world-famous Marian pilgrimage site of Lourdes is located in the French Pyrenees and is visited by many people every year, including many sick people who hope for a cure. The devotional image of the Mother of God has become widespread - not only in France - and believers have built Lourdes chapels and grottos everywhere. The church's memorial day "Our Lady of Lourdes" is on February 11th, the anniversary of the Marian apparition (1858), when the Mother of God appeared to 14-year-old Bernadette Soubirous in a rock grotto very close to Lourdes. Bernadette later became a nun and died at the age of just 35. On December 8th (the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary) 1933, she was canonized by Pope Pius XI. The memorial day of the Lourdes Madonna is also World Day of the Sick.

Great place to eat a freshly made baguette, wrap, pizza, cake, croissant, fresh salad and meal, and much more, during a bike ride. Quality is very good and lots of choice. They also have chilled drinks. There is seating both inside and outside. The Boulangerie is open every day from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, except Sunday until 1:00 PM. There is a tap outside to fill your water bottle, available 24/7.

Ségus is a French commune located in the west of the Hautes-Pyrénées department, in the Occitanie region. Historically and culturally, the town is in the province of Lavedan, south-western part of Bigorre and consists of a set of seven valleys upstream of the city of Lourdes. Exposed to a mountain climate, it is drained by the Lanusse stream and by various other small streams. The town has a remarkable natural heritage: a Natura 2000 site ("granquet-Pibeste and Soum d'Ech"), a protected area (the regional nature reserve of the Pibeste-Aoulhet massif) and three natural areas of ecological and faunal interest and floristics. Ségus is a rural town with 239 inhabitants in 2020. It is part of the Lourdes attraction area. Its inhabitants are called Ségusiens or Ségusiennes.

Aspin-en-Lavedan is a rural town with 315 inhabitants in 2020, after experiencing a sharp increase in population since 1968. It is in the Lourdes conurbation and is part of the Lourdes attraction area. Its inhabitants are called Aspinois or Aspinoises.
