The Town Hall Square is named after former President François Mitterrand, who was mayor of Château-Chinon from 1959 to 1981. An imposing "Niki de Saint Phalle Fountain" faces the Town Hall. It is a monumental work composed of sculptures by Niki de Saint Phalle and an articulated base created by Jean Tinguely. It was created between 1987 and 1988, commissioned by President François Mitterrand.

Fountain in Château-Chinon

Absolutely great village, perfect silence!

Good morning, I agree for the last four photos taken at Château-Chinon, but for the first it would look more like the Tour du Moulin at Château de Chinon in Indre-et-Loire! https://forteressechinon.fr/decouvert-la-forteresse/son-architecture/la-tour-du-moulin... Château-Chinon was originally a Roman oppidum. The town was subsequently built around a feudal castle. It is the capital of Morvan. The city reveals some beautiful assets such as the panorama of Calvary, the Notre-Dame gate and the central fountain.

The WALK left from Pichou via the Camping des Soulins aux Moulins then Vissingy where it crosses the Côte des Morelles another route then we joined Château Chinon and its Calvary, then descended towards Corancy Panneciére passing by the Château fortified farm of Salorge! The route is 25 kms
