The history of Château du Bordage is linked to two prominent families: The Montbourcher family, until the French Revolution in 1793. The Yves Guyot family, until 1957. Among the Breton nobility was the illustrious House of Montbourcher, originally from Vignoc, whose old manor house was abandoned in the 14th century in favor of the Bordage manor. The first known lord of Bordage was Renaud I de Montbourcher, to whom the Duke of Brittany granted usage rights in his forests of Rennes and Liffré in 1312. Among the most illustrious lords of Montbourcher were Renaud, who served as Keeper of the Seals to the Duke of Brittany; Renaud II, a companion of Bertrand du Guesclin; and Bertrand de Montbourcher, chamberlain to the Duke of Brittany in 1426. René III, who was killed in 1488 at the Battle of Saint-Aubin-du-Cormier, was the Duke of Brittany's defeat, which led to the annexation of Brittany to France in 1532. René IV de Montbourcher (1499) was Governor of Rennes and Lieutenant General of Brittany. In 1656, René VII de Montbourcher obtained from Louis XIV the elevation of his Lordship of Bordage to a Marquisate. The Château du Bordage was a fortified castle until the 17th century. Furthermore, it is worth noting a historical characteristic of the castle: it was a center of Protestantism from 1563 until 1701. René VI de Montbourcher, of the "so-called Reformed religion," distinguished himself during the Wars of Religion. After a period of tolerance for Protestantism, King Louis XIV of France decided to outlaw it. Under threat, René VIII de Montbourcher abjured Protestantism and officially converted to Catholicism. In 1789, the French Revolution broke out, and René-François de Montbourcher emigrated. The Château du Bordage was confiscated by the state and then sold for 10,000 livres on May 4, 1793, to Julien Guyot (who became the first mayor of Ercé). The Guyot family retained ownership of the Château du Bordage until 1957. Today, the château is privately owned.

This point of view makes it possible to apprehend the intimacy of the valley with its agricultural lands, its forest and the Couesnon river.

Particular pond, because it exhibits works in the water. The dam bridge is very old and also special. You can go around this pond on foot or by bike.
