Along with the campus on the banks of the Rhône in the 7th arrondissement of Lyon, the Porte des Alpes site is one of the major campuses of the University of Lyon-2. This complex was awarded the Remarkable Contemporary Architecture label in 2003 (20th century heritage): it's worth walking between the buildings with their very special bolted structures and going under the marquee!

This segment is part of the “Biezin nature” trail, an agricultural and forestry area between Décines-Charpieu and Chassieu. Sous Biézin corresponds to the western part of this historic landscape and natural entity. It offers a sweeping view of the Part-Dieu district, the Monts d'Or and the New Town of Rillieux.

Fort de Bron is part of the defense system created after the 1870 war by General Séré de Rivières. It was one of the detached forts responsible for defending the city of Lyon. Thanks to his guns, he had to prevent the approach of the city to an enemy coming from the plain of the east of Lyon. It is possible today to visit the fort.
