This segment is part of the “Biezin nature” trail, an agricultural and forestry area between Décines-Charpieu and Chassieu. Fort de Bron is part of the defense system created after the 1870 war by General Séré de Rivières. It was one of the detached forts responsible for defending the city of Lyon. Thanks to his guns, he had to prevent the approach of the city to an enemy coming from the plain of the east of Lyon. It is possible today to visit the fort.
