I went there without seeing anyone

Those taking the Way of St. James here on the coast save many meters of elevation gain when crossing the Pyrenees. However, many pilgrims take the other route over the mountains: on foot from St. Jean-Pied-de-Port over a pass to Roncesvalles in Spain.

Here you can find fresh fish, fruit and vegetables, as well as meat, sausages and cheeses, and fresh French bread. We ate freshly grilled squid with fresh baguette. It was truly delicious and worth a visit, as they also served a variety of other freshly prepared dishes.

The crypt is a replica of the crypt where Saint Firmin was buried in Amiens. The crypt's facade is made of local stone, and the entrance is guarded by a copy of a statue of Saint Firmin from the Louvre Museum's collections. The wenge wood door from Congo is inlaid with Katangese crosses.
