Very interesting old citadel with rustic walls and wonderful views.

From 1625 onwards, the local castle was expanded into a citadel. Under the direction of the French fortress architect Vauban, the city's defenses were also fundamentally rebuilt by 1728. Even before the bridge, but outside the walls, a footpath, the Chemin de ronde, leads up to the citadel. The citadel is protected by four bastions in all directions; further walls extend towards the city, from which the streets and city gates could be bombarded with cannon fire.

It is a typical small village in Iparralde, right next to the main town Sant-Jean-Pied-Port-de-Port. There is nothing special about it, but if you pass by it, you should enjoy it. There is a nice fountain in the centre of the village.
