Commonwealth Soldiers' Cemetery - containing more than 1000 graves, this place of remembrance is one of the many places to visit dedicated to the Second World War and the Landings in the region. Very impressive, highly recommended to go there at least once!

The Mont Pinçon memorial is the highest point in the Calvados department. This site was the scene of a fierce battle during World War II, when British troops captured a German radio station and observation tower located atop the hill. You can discover this history by reading the stele of the 13/18th Royal Hussars, a pink granite monument sculpted by Alain Head and inaugurated in 1996. You can also enjoy the natural beauty and panoramic views of Mont Pinçon, which is part of the Armorican massif and constitutes an ecologically sensitive area. The Mont Pinçon memorial is a privileged place to discover the past and present of Normandy.

Circuit indeed very pleasant, a little technical for certain parts, and even impassable in the saddle for others, but that's the game. Significant difference in altitude, suitable for VTTAE. In terms of muscle, it's very strong.

The cemetery contains 1,005 commonwealth war graves and 132 German war graves. From wikipedia: The majority of the soldiers interred in the cemetery were killed in late June and July 1944 as the Allies pushed south of Bayeux and then south-west to encircle Caen. Many casualties were involved in fighting around Tilly-sur-Seulles. Two brigadiers are interred in the cemetery; John Roland Mackintosh-Walker of the Seaforth Highlanders and James Hargest from the Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment. Casualties not just from the battles to encircle Caen, but from Operation Bluecoat. There are 24 Scots Guards (3rd Battalion) buried within, most lost their lives on hill 226 (now renumbered 232) near Les Loges on the push south from Caumont. These soldiers were in a tank battalion, part of the 6th Guards tank Brigade. Using Churchill & Stuart tanks.

Mont Pinçon is the highest point in Calvados (362 m). Its television transmitting tower increases this height by 200m. At the top is a military memorial and a magnificent panorama.

The bridge here isn't particularly noteworthy but the River Orne looks deep and dark here and reflects the light beautifully.
