The Lancieux Coastal Path offers a scenic walk along Brittany’s rugged coastline, with stunning views of the emerald sea and Beaussais Bay. You’ll pass golden beaches, rocky outcrops and peaceful coves, with seabirds soaring overhead.

Lancieux is a seaside resort with 8 beaches. The west of the town is bordered by the bay of Lancieux, to the east by the Frémur river. The town is linked to Ploubalay to the south and to Saint-Briac-sur-Mer in Ille-et-Vilaine to the north by a bridge linking the two departments at the mouth of the Frémur. Robert Service (1874-1958), Scottish writer, known as the Bard of the Yukon, lived in Lancieux intermittently between 1913 and 1958, in the Islet district, near the street to which the municipality gave its name , having notably contributed two-thirds to the cost of building the war memorial. After renting the Avel Brao house, in 1913 he bought a house on the cliff called the Corps de Garde and renamed it Dream Haven. It was during one of his summer stays, in September 1958, that he died and was buried in the municipal cemetery.

Gilles van Bretagne lived here in the 15th century, a poet and womanizer who lived a merry life, hence the expression "courir le guilledou" (to go on a woman hunt). But his brother, Duke Francis I of Brittany, suspected Gilles of plotting and had him imprisoned. Because he didn't die fast enough, he was then strangled. Before his death, however, Gilles subjected his brother to divine judgment and the duke also died, tormented by remorse
