Very beautiful place. I was able to cycle around the lake but I'm pretty sure many of the paths are impassable in winter.

The abbey was founded in 1142, but its current architecture dates back to the late 17th - mid-18th centuries. The abbey sits on the edge of a large pond, making it a majestic site that can be seen from the bridge over the D18. (Be careful when taking photos, as traffic is fast there😒). Guided tours of the buildings are available, for a fee and by reservation. However, the exterior is generally open to the public. In my case, I unfortunately found the doors closed and not a soul around to ask for information. Opening hours may coincide with the shop's hours (3 p.m. - 6 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday). This is something to check if you plan to visit.

The west bridge of Lake Voireau offers a beautiful, unobstructed view of the reservoir. The largest body of water in Loire-Atlantique, this lake stretches through the heart of the forest. Its wooded banks and landscaped beaches make it a pleasant stopover for a nature break or a swim.

Also known as the "basin," the port of Nort-sur-Erdre is a lively, historic neighborhood that's a great place to stop off. At the foot of the Saint-Georges Bridge, which separates the wild Erdre from the navigable Erdre, the marina is now a popular place for walking and fishing. The Provostière pond, with a surface area of 73 ha, is connected to the Vioreau lake by the Rigole des Ajaux. This complex is part of the supply system of the Nantes-Brest canal. Its hydraulic management is ensured by the Loire-Atlantique Department, which has owned it since 2008. A 5.5 km path on which a bird observatory is located allows you to go around the pond in about 1h30.
