The current castle dates from the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th century3; it was built on the site of a medieval castle, at the initiative of Robert de Tournebu, Lord of Livet4, who had it rebuilt with a checkered brick and stone facade5. The castle was owned by the Tournebu family until the death of Marie-Pierre de Tournebu (who died last in her branch in 1810). By donation, the castle passed to the Foucault family who kept it until 18796.
