The parking lot is currently inaccessible. The road has been washed out and is only accessible on foot and by bicycle. It is closed to cars. You must park in advance. This adds about 500 meters to the walk in each direction.

As you travel along the challenging Route des Cols, you will encounter the formidable Mont Vinaigre, a legendary climb that will test your endurance and cycling skills. In Frejus, the path to the dam is very well signposted. At the end, you just have to be careful not to drive into the first parking lot before the motorway bridge. Otherwise, you still have to walk quite a bit along the road, which is neither nice nor necessary. The actual parking lot is behind the motorway bridge and offers a lot of parking spaces. As we were there in September, outside of the high season, I can't say whether there are enough parking spaces in the summer. In our case, there was still a lot of space. A well-signposted path starts from the parking lot towards the Malpasset dam, which repeatedly leads past signs containing information about the Malpasset dam and the accident.

Beautiful hike to the ruins of the Barrage de Malpasset. This is a former dam that suddenly and completely collapsed on the night of December 2, 1959. The flood destroyed several villages and cost 423 people their lives.

From the Petites Maures trail, the view of the Côte Bleue and the Mediterranean is simply magnificent. This trail, perched above the coves, offers an exceptional panorama of the crystal-clear waters of the sea, the rocky coves and the small hidden beaches. The Mediterranean vegetation, with its maritime pines and fragrant shrubs, contrasts with the intense blue of the sea.
