Now home to the Haute-Vienne Museum of Contemporary Art, it was once the dynastic residence of the Viscounts of Rochechouart. The keep, built in the 11th century, is surrounded by the remains of a 15th-century building.

The thermal baths of Chassenon date from the Gallo-Roman period. They were settled in the town of Cassinomagus, bordered by the via Aggripa, a road which then linked Saintes to Lyon. The Mas Chaban lake is a water retention which is mainly used for agriculture. It is also home to a rich fauna that you can observe from the banks of the body of water. It is formed by the flow of the Molde which flows a little further into the Charente. With Lake Lavaud, it forms the lakes of Haute-Charente.

Beautiful little village, historic houses, cute small shops and very old chirch. Small cafe in Front of chirch has good coffee and local goodies like cheese and other specialities.
