Nestled under a rock wall at the bottom of the village of Saint-Chély du Tarn, the Notre-Dame de Cénaret chapel, dating from the 12th century, sits near a spring leading to an underground lake. It's definitely worth the detour!

The village of Saint-Chély-du-Tarn is ideally located in the heart of the Tarn gorges. Better still, it offers direct access to the river, and its superb stone bridge offers a magnificent view of the gorges. Fans of heritage and history will also be seduced by its Romanesque church and its chapel.

Small but fine rock chapel, which is not at all expected in the place

This chapel built in the 12th century at the entrance to a cave is impressive. It is now a craft shop. Very beautiful buildings ranging from medieval times to the Renaissance are to be discovered all around in the village of Saint-Chély-du-Tarn.

Les Arcs de Saint-Pierre are geological curiosities located in the heart of the former Gallo-Roman village of resin workers (professionals who bleed into the pines to harvest the resin). Between the tall pines that occupy the space, erosion has carved curious shapes in the limestone, opening up majestic arches. Nearby, there is a cave-burial where audacious trepanations were performed 3,500 years before our era. The shadows cast by the trees make it the perfect place for a break. However, be very respectful of this place considered as an archaeological jewel.
