Well known to local cyclists, the "calvaire coast" is a beautiful steep slope!

Mont de Couple is a small hill 163 meters above sea level. Its summit offers an exceptional view of the hinterland and the town of Wissant. In good weather, you can see the Strait of Dover, the White Cliffs of England, the Boulogne hinterland, and the Calais region.

Excavations carried out before the construction of a car park on Mont d'Hubert, near Cap Blanc Nez (Pas-de-Calais), have uncovered the remains of a Middle Neolithic camp (4,200 to 3,800 years before our era). The camp, covering three hectares, surrounded by a ditch and visible from more than thirty kilometers away, has yielded remains of animal and human bones, ceramics and flints. The Petit Blanc-Nez is a cliff in the Pas-de-Calais region and is part of the Deux-Caps (Two Capes) area, which also includes Cap Gris-Nez. Both are part of the protected area classified as a Grand Site de France and offer breathtaking views of the English Channel and, on a clear day, the English coast.

The bomb holes in the surrounding pastures still bear witness to the English bombings, particularly around Mont d'Hubert. Wild orchids abound in these vast limestone meadows... perhaps you will meet the Boulogne sheep in charge of maintaining these protected areas? As part of the implementation of the NATURA2000 objectives document, this itinerant sheep grazing is carried out each year from May to October. The EAFRD, by financing the shepherd position, allows 600 sheep to roam all of the lawns to restore natural habitats.

Escalles is located in an evergreen valley and has a beautiful pebble beach with sand and rocks, surrounded by numerous hiking trails. On clear days you can see the English coast from Escalles. The village has approximately 228 inhabitants. Escalles attracts tourists with its views of the hinterland. The main tourist attraction is Cap Blanc-Nez, the northernmost cliff in all of France, classified and a member of the Great Territories of France. This cliff, made of rocks and chalk marl, rises to 134 meters high and is home to impressive flora and fauna. The village dates back to the time of the Roman conquest. In the center of Escalles you will find three restaurants and a hotel.

Mont de Couple is the highest point in Boulonnais, at an altitude of 163 m. Along the way, you can admire the diverse flora and fauna of the nature reserve, as well as the remains of German bunkers from the Second World War. At the top, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the coast and countryside. You will also be able to see on your right the majestic Cap Blanc-Nez, which is slightly lower than Mont de Couple.
