Escalles is located on the coast of the Pas-de-Calais, part of the Opal Coast. The height of the commune varies from 0 to 154 meters, and the church is located at an altitude of 47 meters above sea level, at the foot of the 151 meter high Mont d'Hubert. From 1347 to 1558, Escalles was controlled by the English. The village was destroyed during the reconquest by the French. Beautifull view over the beach to cap gris nez. It is even wel forbidden to cycle to te viewpoint

This area is not the Alps of course. But if you want a little sense of it but lack the time to go there, take this little road! Hairpin bends and quite steep. fantastic view.
