The Carouge basin is the point of convergence of the Orge, Blutin, Salmouille and Boële. The basin was dug in the 1970s to extract materials for road construction, and also to manage the floods of the Orge. This former paper mill continues to play a role as a dam today. It is the last line of defense of Corbeil-Essonnes.
