From Gallic antiquity to the Hospitallers (who had a commandery here) including the town's past as papermakers: Ambert, in the heart of Livradois-Forez, is a magnificent town steeped in history.

The Saint-Jean church is a catholic church in Ambert. It was built between 1471 and 1518. It is classified as a historical monument.

This small town on the plateaus of Livradois was built around its old castle. Its name, which means “water path”, is characteristic of the town which is crossed by several small streams and two rivers.

This mill, which dates from 1449, is the last in Haute-Dore still in operation. Visits are regularly organized to be able to enjoy this place of history and discover the cogs and mechanisms of the time.

The abbey of La Chaise-Dieu is a former Benedictine abbey. It is a jewel of southern Gothic. Located in the village of La Chaise-Dieu, it was built during the 11th century. The village of La Chaise-Dieu is nestled on a granite promontory, more than 1000 meters above sea level. Saint-Robert Abbey and its Sacred Music Festival are worth the detour.

The "La Poule Rouge" and "L'Ane Bleu" paths are green corridors between the Masse district and the Ribbe bridge.

A must see with a beautiful view when arriving in the village.
