The ford and the footbridge In the 19th century, crossing the Frémur estuary was possible by a ford at low tide or by a ferryman at high tide. A submersible wooden footbridge of approximately 25 m was built in 1878 to facilitate movement between the two banks at low tide2. First bridge From 1912, the departments of Côtes-du-Nord and Ille-et-Vilaine considered the construction of a viaduct based on the Pointe du Grognet in Lancieux. Its particular objective would be to allow the Le Guildo - Saint-Briac line of the Côtes-du-Nord Railways to cross the Frémur between Lancieux and Saint-Briac3. The first bridge over the Frémur was built in reinforced concrete by Louis Harel de la Noe and was put into service in 1929. Unfortunately, the line was stopped in 1932.
