The Col de la Loge peaks at an altitude of 1,253 meters. In winter, it is the gateway to long and beautiful cross-country ski trails which head towards the heart of Livradois-Forez. In summer, hikers take it to enjoy the serenity of the woods that populate the surrounding area.

Super pass to do from Sail sous Couzan for a real climb. It can be done in different variants by taking the traditional route, via St Just en bas or Palogneux. In any case, the roads remain very uncrowded and the landscapes are really beautiful with cliffs and pine forests. It almost feels like being in the south depending on where you look. Percentages are never too high. If we go through Palogneux the climb is steeper but a descent allows us to rest.

A nice training pass for big passes. You can enjoy beautiful views in the terminal part. On the Chalmazel side we stay for a long time in the forest with a very grainy road. Even in spring we feel that the climate is harsh with a drop in temperature as soon as we go up in altitude. Do not hesitate to climb to Pierre sur Haute to enjoy even more and extend the pleasure of the climb a little!

A long, gentle and comfortable climb with the heather as a welcome in the last kilometers. And especially a tiramisu or a blueberry pie on the neck!

The striking beauty of the landscape between the Loire and Auvergne, the fresh air of the high altitude, the cuisine of the numerous Auberges in the vicinity, all the hiking and biking options... Everything make a perfect destination in this less known part of France.

Nice pass but quite difficult all the same! From Vertolaye 13.8 km of ascent for an average gradient of 6.5% and 9% max. An inn at the top is open year round for a little refreshment!!
