Very nice hydroelectric power station and great bike path along the water

The EDF hydroelectric power plant in Kembs, located on the Grand Canal d'Alsace, is an impressive site. On the banks of the Rhine, this power plant, which plays a key role in the production of renewable energy, is surrounded by paths ideal for discovery. Along the banks, walkers can observe the power of water while enjoying magnificent views of the river and the surrounding natural areas, including the Petite Camargue Alsacienne reserve.

A lot of electricity is produced here, and repairs are currently being carried out that I don't want to do with this current

Locking to the valley means the boat goes down through the lock. This maneuver is the easier one because the lines can be kept on the slip and do not have to be folded over. The lock uphill, i.e. lifting the boat, is the more demanding task. The lines must be used here unless there are lock rods or floating bollards. This was a bit of a loophole, it's fun to watch...
