This small village attracts up to 80,000 pilgrims each year who come to pay homage to Saint-Elouan. The remains of this saint were found within this commune. “Elouan” means “good light” in the Celtic language. His tomb and fountain are attached to the chapel which also bears his name. The development of the cult of these Breton saints developed in the Middle Ages, when families of the aristocracy appropriated their legends. This justification is based on genealogical arguments, the particular protection of a saint or his adoption as a substitute ancestor in their lineages.
