A visit to the monastery 'Abbaye de Flaran' is definitely worth it. This abbey was founded in 1151 by the monks of Escaladieu. The southern orientation of the Chemin des Remparts, in the setting of terraced gardens, gives it a Mediterranean character where Opuntias, Fig Trees, Lauriers-Sauce and Lauriers-Tin meet with Chamacrops that often escaped from the enclosed gardens that overlook it. This sloping path connects the Place des Pyrénées with the port of Valence. Benches that interrupt your walk invite you to take breaks and observe the various plants, trees and shrubs. Formerly cultivated, this space had over the years regained its original aspect of limestone lawn. Developed with the help of the ONF, the place wanted to perfect its educational role by adding some ornamental species. During your walk you will discover the Gingko Biloba (tree with 40 ecu), the Cormier, used in furniture making, violin making and the common ash. The path is lined with explanatory panels about the flora.

The path of the fairies is an old botanical path that has been redeveloped by the inhabitants since 2022 with about sixty fairy houses, small doors, and which is supplemented or renewed over the seasons. It is linked to the many legends of fairies, las hadas in Gascon, who surround the village with their aura.

Located south of Condom, the commercial capital of Armagnac, at the confluence of two rivers, the Baïse and the Auloue, the Bastide de Valence was created at the end of the 13th century following the trimming contract between Flaran Abbey and Count Geraud d 'Armagnac. Built on a promontory 600 m long and 150 m wide dominating the valley for more than 60 m, it was surrounded by a belt of 8 m high walls of which important fragments remain everywhere.

This is a shared walking, cycling & horse riding only path that follows the River Baisse between Valance sur Baisse and Condom. Lots in the shade and good views and a few highlights; La Barge & Ecluse 42 restos, Abbaye de Flaran and the lock at Graziac. Good river views throughout. Confusingly IT IS NOT the green marked cycle route to Condom that use the sometimes busy D roads with no cycle paths! It is called the Sentier de Baisse and is marked by a hiker signs but is suitable for; MTB, VTT,gravel bikes and most hybrid bikes. Road bikes stick to the marked road route. It is an obvious route expect for at the Abbaye de Flaran. IGNORE the green cycle marked route going towards Condom, instead cross the Abbaye car park and over a small road bridge then the path starts again across the fields. At the Graziaclock the path starts by the main car park. Between the Abbaye and Valence the route is tarmaced the rest is field and paths. This is a great cycle friendly route.
