The Notre-Dame de Morienval abbey is a former Benedictine abbey for women, probably founded during the third quarter of the 9th century by Charles the Bald, in a valley near Crépy-en-Valois, in the current town of Morienval in the Oise. Since the suppression of the abbey in 1745, its church has served as the parish church of the village. It takes the name of Saint Denis from the old parish church demolished in 1750. The rare conventual buildings of the old abbey which were not demolished after the French Revolution belong to a private owner and cannot be visited. In any case, it is its impressive Romanesque church that makes Morienval famous. It was built from the middle of the 11th century and is thus one of the oldest Romanesque churches in the region, where Carolingian architecture continued for a long time.

Founded in the 12th century, this former abbey was sold as national property during the Revolution. A long phase of gradual renovation then began. Since 1964, an association has been working on its restoration and organizing volunteer projects. In 2020 and 2021, the Restored Place will host the Mad Jacques "high country refuge" for cyclists during the summer, the equivalent of a high mountain refuge, but in the countryside.
