The village of Ofeld was verifiably mentioned in a document in 1186 together with Emmerstedter. In the centuries that followed, the settlement fell into desolation. Nothing has been found there that would indicate settlement.

A highlight in the corner

This year, the Untersee (Helmstedt area) and the Obersee (Harbke) will be connected. This means that what belongs together will grow together. The lake will continue to be called Lappwaldsee, which is why the stupid title of the highlight has to be adapted accordingly.

Good opportunity for a top motif

The Brunnentheater (sometimes also referred to as the Brunnen-Theater; formerly the Kurtheater) in the Helmstedt district of Bad Helmstedt in Lower Saxony was built in 1927 in the Lappwald forest. The 615-seat theater hosts 50 to 60 performances by touring ensembles each season from September to May, including numerous guest performances by well-known and international stages. The Kurtheater, which first opened on June 18, 1815, came to a standstill during the First World War. The rather simple half-timbered building was demolished in 1924. The current theater was reopened on June 1, 1927 under the name Brunnentheater after three years of construction with a performance of the operetta Countess Mariza.
