The Brunnentheater (sometimes also referred to as the Brunnen-Theater; formerly the Kurtheater) in the Helmstedt district of Bad Helmstedt in Lower Saxony was built in 1927 in the Lappwald forest. The 615-seat theater hosts 50 to 60 performances by touring ensembles each season from September to May, including numerous guest performances by well-known and international stages. The Kurtheater, which first opened on June 18, 1815, came to a standstill during the First World War. The rather simple half-timbered building was demolished in 1924. The current theater was reopened on June 1, 1927 under the name Brunnentheater after three years of construction with a performance of the operetta Countess Mariza.

The Türkentor in the Lower Saxon district town of Helmstedt in Germany was built in 1716 to commemorate the victory over the Turks in the same year. It served as the entrance to the domain courtyard from what is now Federal Highway 1 and was in line with the dovecote. It was badly damaged by an air raid in World War II and rebuilt at its current location in 1986. It shows the imperial coat of arms in the gable and above the side passages the coats of arms of the abbot and prior of the monastery, during whose term of office the gate was built. The gate was the main portal to the former St. Ludgeri monastery. (…) By erecting the Türkentor as a triumphal arch, the abbot and prior expressed both their joy at victory and their solidarity with the emperor, to whom the monastery was subordinate in worldly affairs. One should not forget that "Schacht Marie" was a branch of the Neuengamme concentration camp in the 1940s and, above all, used prisoners as forced laborers in the underground armaments industry. As part of today's Morsleben nuclear repository (ERAM), the site is hermetically guarded. A concentration camp memorial in the former elementary school is about to be relocated to the town.
