In Venette, a first lock was built between 1826 and 1835, 45 metres long and 8 metres wide. Then, in response to the development of navigation, a new lock measuring 125 m by 12 m was built between 1890 and 1900, creating an artificial island for its diversion, the Île des Rats, connected by a metal bridge to the town of Venette. It can therefore accommodate Freycinet-type barges measuring over 38 metres long. A third lock, measuring 185 m by 12 m, was built in 1975, on the left bank of the Île de Venette. The Jaux footbridge can be crossed on foot or by non-motorized two-wheeler. It offers a beautiful panoramic view of the Oise and the quays of the pier.

The chapel is located about 1 km north of Cernoy, at the entrance to the hamlet of Trois-Étots. The chapel is built in red brick with white stone accents and dates from the early 16th century. It is noteworthy that the construction of the chapel was probably simultaneous with that of the southeastern part of the nearby castle of Trois-Étots. Inside, the chapel has a single nave with three bays, closed by a three-sided choir. Noteworthy are the three cylindrical columns between each bay, which rest on a semicircular base. The windows have Gothic tracery and contain two types of windows: some have two central mullions opening into smaller windows, while others have three equal windows with an acute angle. There are inscriptions on the capitals of the pillars, one of which mentions the year 1544, which is probably the year the chapel was built.

The story goes that out of love for Empress Marie-Louise, Napoleon I created this huge alley in the middle of the woods. So she could admire it from the windows of her apartments from far away. Departure in front of the entrance to the castle park for a climb to the Beaux monts (climb of about 5 km) from where you will discover a breathtaking view of Compiegne and its forest, a must !!!
