Great walk. Beautiful view with picnic tables and tap with drinking water. However, NOT an easy walk. You must be able to walk well.

This summit houses a chapel, but it was previously a strong defensive position. From the Arab invasions in 730 to the successive Norman and Hungarian invasions, this stronghold has resisted. It was not until 1180 that the fortress fell into the hands of King Philippe Auguste, who destroyed it but spared the chapel. The summit offers magnificent views.

Nice climb with big percentages towards the end. In good weather, you can see Mont Blanc from the Tower.

“Each of these crosses can tell its own story and what prompted people to erect “their” cross at this point. (...) These wayside crosses were erected as visible signs and attract the attention of many people. The cross is a symbol of life. It stands as a sign of our Christian hope and wants to direct our gaze to Jesus Christ, who has overcome death (...). The cross is part of our life as it was in the life of Jesus. So I wish that many people … visit the crosses, whether as places of stillness and breathing space before God, whether as places for community gatherings, prayer and praise to God.” (Text source: Dean Rainald M. Ollig in: “Crossroads. Small sacred monuments as a sign of popular piety")

Highest point of the Rhône! The Rigaud monster has a wooden observation tower at its top which allows you to gain height in relation to the surrounding trees. Unfortunately some remain too large and the view and blocked on certain sides. The climb is done from the Col de Crie, from Proprières or from Chénelette each time with large double-digit percentages! In winter, the micro-road that leads to the summit is not cleared of snow, but it can be very cold there, so the road can be icy on a good layer, making it impassable by road bike. In the climb we pass by the source of Mont Saint Rigaud, miraculous water with extraordinary virtues it seems!

6월 18, 2022, Chapelle de Fatima
This "Fatima Chapel" is dedicated to the Mother of God. It was named after the town of Fatima in Portugal, where Mary appeared several times to some shepherd children in 1917 (i.e. during the First World War). Our Lady revealed three mysteries to the children in several apparitions. Pope John Paul II attributed his survival of the assassination attempt on him that took place on May 13, 1981 - the commemoration of the first apparition of Mary in Fatima - to Our Lady there. The bullet that almost killed him was later incorporated into the crown of the statue of Mary at Fatima as a votive offering.

Just don't be misled by the statement in the yellow outdoor guide that the shell was wrongly glued to this junction. The route has been deliberately chosen so that you can get past this attraction. And it's really worth it, because the view from the tower is amazing!

The picnic bench is in the shade under conifers. A trash can is also available, this is rarely the case on the trail.

You can climb the tower of the chapel. A narrow spiral staircase leads to the top. There you have a fantastic view.

One of the few places where you can take a good rest. Because on the opposite edge of the forest there is also a nice picnic bench.
