Very beautiful canal, with continuous cycle path (EV6)

The towpath along the Canal de Centre is ideal for racing bikes and children. With little gradient, it always runs along the water

Part from water tower not possible with a regular bike. Was not really a path. Very narrow, along wire and densely overgrown. Maybe with mountain bike. So turn around and pick up route later.

At the gates of Chagny, the Canal du Center is an ideal place for walks away from road traffic. The setting is superb and shady.

The enchanting town has always been a stopover point for travellers. The Hospitaller Hospital at Château Bellecroix bears witness to this, as does the former National Road 6, the Canal du Center and the "Voie Verte", a former railway line which today leads cyclists and hikers to Chagny. Gourmets stop at the three-star Lameloise restaurant or stroll through the lively and well-stocked weekly market on Sundays.

Chagny is a small town in the Saône-et-Loire department at a crossroads. It is located slightly south of the slopes of the famous prestigious white wines of Burgundy, Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet. It is crossed by the Canal du Center and is bordered by La Dheune. A brickyard factory once powered the village economy. It is La Meuloise, a great starred restaurant that contributes to its prestige today. Every Sunday, the streets of the center of Chagny come alive: colors, scents, local products and the cries of friendly merchants... come and stroll along the wide alleys lined with tasty stalls. This market is labeled Marché de France and Saveurs et savoir-faire de Bourgogne.
