Absolutely stunning and charming historical village! The buildings are not only beautiful, but also so well preserved. There's also so many wonderful restaurants, bakeries, and cafes to enjoy - it's an absolutely fantastic place to stop for a break.

Situated near the Porte des Cigognes and the Stockbrunnen fountain, this Renaissance building from around 1580 is one of the most striking places in Turckheim. Once known as the Bürgerstube or Herrenstube, it served as a meeting room for the city council and as a meeting place for the guilds. This is where the citizens drank their Schlaftrunk (last drink before going to bed) and where weddings and religious festivals were celebrated. The façade still bears the Habsburg coats of arms, with the imperial double-headed eagle and the chain of the Order of the Golden Fleece – a reminder of the time when Turckheim was under imperial rule.

The Mairie de Turckheim, located on the rue du Conseil, is an elegant and well-maintained building that fits perfectly into the historic cityscape of Turckheim. The architecture is classical and understated, with a symmetrical facade, sandstone details and a saddle roof that harmonizes with the surrounding half-timbered houses.
