The Moulin de Mormoulins is a watermill located on the Eure River in the hamlet of Mormoulins. This mill dates back to the 18th and 19th centuries and is a listed historical monument. You can admire the old stone building, the wooden wheel, and the canal that diverts water from the river as you pass in front of the mill. Built in the 16th century and constructed from white stone from the Boncourt quarry, the church has a brown tile roof, accompanied by a bell tower and a belfry covered in slate. A small canopy, a vestibule, protects the sanctuary door, rebuilt in 1789. The bell was cast in the 17th century.

According to tradition, the church choir covers the remains of an older building, possibly dating back to the 6th century, which was built to house the saint's body. According to current knowledge, the commune of Saint-Piat (Sanctus Piatus in Latin) officially appeared in 1087, mentioned in a charter of the Nottonville Priory (Eure-et-Loir), on which it depended. The current building was rebuilt during the time of Francis I, as suggested by the date 1535 engraved on two buttresses of the apse and the date 1542 engraved on a piece of wood from the vault. This is according to a study by the SAEL (Eure-et-Loir Archaeological Society). The three-sided apses, the dripstone towers (horizontal members projecting from a wall), and the sculpted roof structures are a testament to the importance of the reconstructions carried out in the department during the 16th century. The church of Saint-Piat is one of them. While the church has not been officially recognized, it nevertheless contains objects that have attracted attention both for their antiquity and quality, but not always for good reason. Their artistic value, far from attracting only religious or aesthetic interest, has also aroused a covetousness that, unfortunately, remains for some of them. Fortunately, those still in place are carefully cared for and offer the curious a story to discover, a beauty to slowly ponder as they progress toward the choir.

Nothing remains of the old church, donated at the end of the 10th century by Hugh Capet to the Abbey of Saint-Magloire. During the 19th and 20th centuries, the building was remodeled numerous times. The bell tower was restored around 1840. The building burned down in 1888. In 1892, the Hériot family commissioned its reconstruction from Charles Trubert, architect of the town of Rambouillet. The sacristy was built in 1894, possibly by Pommay, the Hériot family's architect. A painting depicting Saint Thomas Aquinas receiving the blood of Christ can be attributed to the 18th-century French school. The iconographic theme chosen is unusual. The depiction of a saint receiving the blood of Christ is inspired by the medieval theme of the Church collecting blood and water in its chalice. In the 16th century, the figures depicted in this pose at the foot of the cross were angels. Saint Thomas Aquinas usually symbolizes the fight against evil. In this painting, he represents the love of Christ. The church consists of a single nave with a ribbed vault and semicircular arches. The stained-glass windows are probably the work of Lorin, a master glassmaker from Chartres. The bell tower, partially destroyed during the Second World War, was restored in 1955.

Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul The construction of the church is said to have been initiated by Don Roger, abbot of the very powerful Benedictine abbey of Coulombs from 1115 to 1174. At that time, the abbey stood near Nogent-le-Roi, a former fortified town located twelve kilometers away on the banks of the Eure. Spread over more than 80 parishes, it had a considerable influence in the region until the Revolution, whether from a religious, economic or social point of view. The Romanesque style that it had adopted since its original construction was reworked in the 16th century by the opening of tall Gothic windows around the choir. Finally, in the following century, during the Wars of Religion, the church suffered serious damage. When peace returned, the entrance porch was finally rebuilt in the elegant Renaissance style. In 1950, a fire destroyed the church and all its furniture; it was restored at the end of the 20th century.

From the beginning of the 12th century, the parish of La Chaussée was established. The Abbey of Saint Père holds this church with some 60 acres of land, meadows and a fief which consists of cens on some houses and inheritances. She owes these goods to the generosity of Drogon de Raizeux Outside the building, we can still see extensions, now fallen, emerging from the walls. It is undoubtedly an old tower or chapel whose foundations can still be seen on the ground during periods of drought. On the austere facade of the apse, lacking in roundness, two large bays once opened, now walled up. On the side opposite the sacristy, there is a medallion above a Renaissance door with the date 1739. According to the village elders, this is the place formerly occupied by a sundial that the rains have disappears over time. Today, the funeral liter of the lords of Saint Lucien is invisible. This liter consisted of a black band one meter wide which went around the walls and on which the deceased and his cupboards were painted. Mille Saint Just, lord of Saint Lucien, was buried in the church of Saint Lucien in 1652, in the choir, against the seat adjoining the step by which one ascends to the altar. The abbey of Saint Père-en-Vallée, formerly outside Chartres, was also built in the 12th century. It is independent of the diocese of Chartres.

Oriented east, the building follows a rectangular plan, extended by a choir. With a length of 35 meters, the building is constructed of masonry and consolidated by sandstone buttresses. The pointed vault is 13 meters high, the adjoining bell tower is around twenty meters high. The construction of the church would have been the initiative of Don Roger, abbot of the very powerful Benedictine abbey of Coulombs from 1115 to 1174. At this period, the abbey stood near Nogent-le-Roi, former fortified town located twelve kilometers on the banks of the Eure. Extended over more than 80 parishes, it had a considerable influence in the region, until the Revolution, whether from a religious, economic or social point of view. The Romanesque style that it had adopted since its original construction was remodeled in the 16th century. by the opening of high Gothic windows, around the edge of the choir. Finally, in the following century, during the wars of religion, the church suffered serious damage. When peace returned, the entrance porch was finally rebuilt in the elegant manner of the Renaissance style. In 1950, a fire destroyed the church and all its furniture; it was restored at the end of the 20th century.

Most of the construction dates from the 15th and 16th centuries but parts of the choir date back to the 11th century. The 16th century western façade is very well preserved, as is the paneled framework of the choir. The building is classified as a historic monument in 190

In Renaissance style, this 16th century private castle was built by Henri II for his favorite Diane de Poitiers. A fantastic building to admire while running.
