The Fort du Parmont was built between 1874 and 1876. It is a structure that is part of the fortifications of eastern France of the Séré de Rivières type. It is located in the municipality of Remiremont and is part of the defensive curtain of the Upper Moselle (Wikipedia). Unfortunately, the fort was closed and we were unable to visit it.

The fort of Parmont lies above the town of Remiremont. It was built in the second half of the 19th century as part of the Haute-Moselle defensive curtain, a forerunner of the later Maginot Line. There is no entry fee, but is closed in winter. Guided tours are possible at other times of the year.

The Fort du Parmont, near Remiremont, was built between 1874 and 1876. It was part of the barrier de fer (iron barrier) on the border with Germany. And thus a forerunner of the built in 1930 Maginot Line.
