Christian Dior's parents acquired this bourgeois house in 1906. Featuring a winter garden, located within a protective park.
Christian Dior particularly likes this place. He wrote in his autobiography “Christian Dior and I”: “the house of my childhood... I keep the most tender and amazed memories of it. What did I say ? my life, my style, owe almost everything to its location and its architecture.”
When in 1932, shortly after the death of Madeleine Dior, the industrial father was ruined by the crisis, the property was put up for sale. Purchased by the town of Granville, its garden was opened to the public in 1938.
In 1997, the villa became the “Christian Dior Museum”, the only museum in France entirely dedicated to a fashion designer.
