The Etang Saint-Ladre Nature Reserve in Boves is located near Amiens, in the Avre Valley, a tributary of the Somme River. In 1979, it became the first site in Picardy to be designated a state-owned nature reserve. The ecological management implemented since the 1990s has allowed the development of a complex mosaic of habitats, among the most representative of alkaline peatland systems, supporting characteristic, and often heritage, flora and fauna. Located 2.5 kilometers south of Breteuil-sur-Noye, the ancient site of Vendeuil-Caply covers nearly 130 hectares and includes parts of the neighboring communes.
